Blue is a colour almost nothing in the landscape shares, so the machine reads as manufactured rather than as part of the scenery, while the yellow does the visibility work. Printing is on high-quality film with a reinforced adhesive layer and an extra lamination coat over the print. Ordinary vinyl lifts at the edges after a season of jet washing; a reinforced adhesive does not, and the laminate takes the abrasion that would otherwise reach the ink.
